Where is Mission Beach?

Mission Beach is a gorgeous beachfront holiday town surrounded by rainforest and located halfway between Townsville and Cairns. Mission Beach is made up of four beach villages each set on gorgeous sandy beacheswith 20 or so tropical islands located just offshore. South Mission Beach

South Mission Beach has glorious views across to Dunk Island, Bedarra, the Family Group of Island and the largest National Park Island in Australia, Hinchinbrook Island. Enjoy a lazy lunch at the resort on Tam O’Shanter Point or choose from a variety of water sports at the beach. Kayak to Dunk Island, fish from the beach or hire a tinnie to explore the beaches on your own.

Wongaling Beach

Wongaling Beach is the closest point to Dunk Island and enjoys spectacular views. Launch your boat directly off the beach or catch the water taxi to Dunk Island. Alternatively, take in the shops at the Wongaling shopping centre or enjoy a beer with your lunch in one of the beachfront bars.

North Mission Beach

Mix with the locals, enjoy a latte or fresh juice at one of the many outdoor cafes, watch the world go by Mission Beach style...slowly! Mission Beach has a surprising range of gourmet restaurants and bars to suit all tastes and budgets. Beachside resort and restaurant, galleries, internet cafes, interior design and beauty salon make up the eclectic ambience of the village.

Bingil Bay

Bingil Bay, the last beach of Mission Beach is a haven for artists, writers and musicians. Enjoy a freshly caught fish barbecued on the free barbecues at the waters edge, or take in the walk to the top of Bicton Hill for awesome views of the Barnard Islands and over to Dunk and Hinchinbrook while hopefully spotting.
